Try for 5 is an annual awareness campaign by Nutrition Australia during National Nutrition Week in October that celebrates vegetables and the important role they can play in our health and wellbeing. The focus of the 2022 campaign, running from 16-22 October, is to inspire Australians to ‘Get the most out of your veg’.

2022’s Try For 5 campaign is sponsored by AusVeg, Birds Eye, Edgell, Flavorite, Good & Fugly, Sanitarium, Velisha Farms and Vitamix.

Purpose of Try For 5


Try For 5 aims to inspire Australians to enjoy vegetables through highlighting the fun and creative ways Australians can incorporate veg into their day. With only 7% of adults and 5% of children eat the recommended serves of vegetables each day, Nutrition Australia created the campaign to raise awareness of the benefits of eating vegetables.

Vegetables are important for health. They contain a range of nutrients including fibre, carbohydrates, protein, vitamins, minerals and phytochemicals. Eating the recommended serves of vegetables each day has been to help maintain a healthy weight, lower cholesterol and blood pressure, and lower the risk of developing certain chronic diseases such as Type 2 Diabetes and heart disease.
