Training: Common nutrition issues in residential care

This interactive workshop is designed for all staff working in a caring capacity with older adults, such as nurses, care assistants and service managers.
Food and nutrition can have a significant impact to quality of life by meeting the physical, functional and experiential needs of clients. This workshop will provide education about key nutritional concerns in residential aged care clients and how to identify and address these issues early.
Learning outcomes:

Identify and overcome common barriers to residents eating and drinking well, such as:
- Lack of appetite / thirst
- Chewing and swallowing difficulties
- Dementia
- Food choices / preferences
- Identify malnutrition and understand its impact
- Simple tips to help manage and prevent malnutrition and dehydration
