Statement of Ethics

Nutrition Australia, Victorian Division:

  • Is the independent voice of evidence based nutrition information.
  • Is not aligned with any food company or service that is not committed to nutrition via an approved nutrition policy.
  • All our services are holistic in their approach.

History of Nutrition Australia:

  • Established in Melbourne in 1979 with a grant from the Victorian branch of the Australian Medical Association as a nutrition advisory body consulting to the community.
  • Evolved to become a key provider of nutrition information to a range of stakeholders including government agencies, community groups, schools and universities, food regulators and industry.

Target Audience:

  • School aged children and their educators. This is in line with the Victorian Government’s Eat Well Victoria priorities for the prevention and management of diet related diseases.
  • Through research with older Australians over the last five years, Nutrition Australia has identified the need for developing and delivering nutrition services targeting older Victorians and their service providers.
  • Community groups with expressed needs.
  • Nutrition Australia Members.

Membership:

  • Nutrition Australia has a membership consisting of approximately 2,606 corporate and individual members on a National level with more than a quarter of these members residing in Victoria. Our membership includes acknowledged experts in food and nutrition sciences and education.
