This Wednesday 25 August, Nutrition Australia launched the ‘Healthy Food Guidelines for above-pension Supported Residential Services’ manual to help over 100 SRS facilities make small and easy changes to their menu to ensure their residents have the nutrients they need to grow old gracefully.
SRS’s are privately owned businesses providing accommodation and personal care for those who can no longer live independently at home. Although they cater for a range of age groups, the average age of those living in ‘above-pension’ facilities is 83.
Every above-pension SRS will soon receive a free manual with advice for menu planning that is age and culturally specific. Nutrition Australia will also continue to support SRS’s through a 1300 info line and menu assessments.
