What is Healthy Weight?

The first thing to accept is that we are all different, and a healthy weight for one person might not be a healthy weight for another person of the same age, same height and same sex. Living in an environment that does not encourage healthy meals, snacks and drinks, or regular activity can increase your chance of gaining unwanted weight. The main reasons to watch your weight are for your own comfort, ability to do the things you need and want to do and also, importantly, your health.

Ann important consideration is: where are your unwanted fat deposits? Abdominal (tummy) fat is thought to play a role in these chronic diseases; diabetes, high blood pressure, high blood cholesterol and heart disease, and aggravation of joint conditions such as arthritis. A woman's hips are often considerably wider than her waitst. This assists with pregnancy and breastfeeding. There is less risk of heart disease and diabetes with this body shape. It is not possible to 'spot; reduce the fat from the hips - it is natural and meant to be there.
