Food and Nutrition
Nutrition Australia has made a significant contribution to the education and improvement of the health and wellbeing of Australians. However, the need for nutrition education continues as statistics show a growing percentage of Australians are overweight and obese and show other diseases associated with diets of excess. The present generation of young people were born into a world where fast foods were the accepted norm for snacks and family meals. This, coupled with reduction in physical activity, has increased the rate at which obesity is growing in Australia. The health problems and costs associated with long term obesity and other diet-related diseases are sufficient to show the need for further programs from Nutrition Australia.
