Nutrition Information Service

South Eastern Sydney Illawarra Area Health Service provides funding for the Nutrition Information Service (NIS) to be implemented by Nutrition Australia NSW Division.

Aim

To provide nutritionally based information, resources, programs and projects accessible to the people of NSW including the general community, government, non-government, corporate and private sectors, schools and childcare centres. The nutrition education service is provided to children aged between 0-8 and 8-12 years, adolescents, educators, childcare centres, seniors, new and emerging communities, parents, women, culturally and linguistically diverse and disadvantaged communities. The NIS delivery includes access to resources such as booklets, posters and public seminars. A free nutrition telephone and email service is available to NSW population.

Objectives

•    To provide a free nutrition information service to the people of NSW so they are able to make more informed decisions about the food they consume and better lifestyle decisions.
•    Develop and maintain strategic partnerships to identify and address gaps in nutrition education.
•    To have current up-to-date nutrition information available to the public in order to increase their knowledge of nutrition.
•    To increase the communities involvement in promoting sound nutrition practices.
