Refugees Support

Nutrition Australia Queensland Division is currently funded by the Department of Immigration and Citizenship for a project to welcome and support humanitarian entrants as they settle into their new life in Australia.

Working closely with an inner city state primary school in Brisbane, Nutrition Australia staff have used cooking workshops to connect and welcome the new arrivals. The classes attract stay-at-home mothers with small children who are at risk of social isolation and are finding it difficult to learn or practice English.
