NA NSW Celebrates Volunteers this National Volunteer Week!

This week (9-15 May 2016) marks National Volunteer Week!

Nutrition Australia NSW would like to specially thank all our volunteers who generously donate their time to assist our organisation. Without you, we would not be able to reach as many people as we do.

We sincerely thank you for all that you do to help us promote optimal health for all Australians.

Jenny Eggins receives Individual Volunteer Achievement Award in the fifth annual St George Community Awards

Nutrition Australia NSW President Barbara Ward was proud to nominate Jenny Eggins for the Individual Volunteer Achievement Award. The Award was hosted by Mr Mark Coure MP Member for Oatley and Deputy Government Whip.

Jenny received her award in the 2015 St George Community Awards on the 12th November for her work with Nutrition Australia NSW Division. 

Nutrition Australia NSW Inspires Healthy Eating at the South Eastern Sydney Local Health District Staff Wellness Expo

The South Eastern Sydney Local Health District Staff Wellness Expo offered an opportunity for the Districts staff to learn more about the services available to them, from hearing checks to fitness passports. Nutrition Australia NSW participated in the Staff Wellness Expo, offering staff a wide range of nutrition information and answering their nutrition related questions.

Nutrition Australia NSW engaged with staff who were interested in learning more about healthy eating on the run, quick and healthy breakfast ideas and many were interested in improving their families diet.

Nutrition Australia NSW volunteers support the UNSW Cooking Society Healthy Eating Workshop

On the 22nd of October Nutrition Australia NSW volunteers Chloe and Alana supported the University of NSW Cooking Society Healthy Eating Workshop. The Healthy Eating Workshop aimed to provide students with information on healthy eating ‘basics’. Many students attended the workshop to gain practical tips and general nutrition advice.

The Hon Minister Jillian Skinner MP Launches National Nutrition Week at NSW Parliament House

The Hon Minister for Health Jillian Skinner MP launched the week long National Nutrition Week campaign at the New South Wales Parliament House, on Wednesday 14 October, there was a buzz of activity with characters ‘Bazza Banana’ and ‘Tamara Tomato’ interacting with guests on their arrival to New South Wales Parliament House.

NA NSW support University of Wollongong's Well@Work Expo

On Thursday the 26th of March, Nutrition Australia NSW volunteers Emily and Ayslin participated in the Well@Work Health Expo, held by the University of Wollongong. The event’s aim was to provide positive and healthy experiences for staff working across their Wollongong campus. Emily and Ayslin ran a stall offering nutrition advice to passers-by and promoted eating healthy lunches at work for staff and their families.

2014 NSW Volunteer of the Year

Nutrition Australia NSW Division would like to congratulate Phoebe Starling, our 2014 Volunteer of the Year.

Whilst completing her Bachelor of Nutrition and Dietetics, Phoebe has volunteered her time to assist us with a range of different activities including attending expos, writing newsletters and office assistance.

Lifestyle bloggers take on Healthy Eating Challenge

Earlier this year, Nutrition Australia NSW worked with TEFAL to develop nutritious recipes for the TEFAL ActiFry® - the all-in-one healthy cooking appliance that cooks a variety of tasty meals with a minimum of oil.

Last month, four Australian lifestyle bloggers including; The Little Mumma, Love Life and Hiccups, Rogue Homme and My Little Drummer Boys, took the Tefal ActiFry® Challenge and followed a 4-week healthy eating meal plan developed by Nutrition Australia NSW.

NA NSW serve up a healthy breakfast for Shellharbour Bike About participants

On Sunday the 14th of September, Nutrition Australia NSW volunteers Phoebe and Fiona, served up a healthy breakfast to participants in the annual Shellharbour Bike About.

It was a perfect Spring day for children, their families, grandparents and Shellharbour locals to participate in an 8, 10 or 18km bike ride around the picturesque Lake Illawarra.
