Nutrition Australia is a non-government, non-profit, community based-organisation with offices in each state and territory. Nutrition Australia is an independent body that aims to promote the health and well-being of all Australians. Nutrition Australia specialises in public health nutrition and acts as a key nutrition information body for State and Commonwealth Health Departments, working extensively in the area of nutrition for children, adolescents, and older Australians in nursing homes or in their own homes and the media.

Why be a member of Nutrition Australia?

  • You will be supporting the promotion of scientifically based nutrition information in the community.
  • You will become part of an organisation which has earned a reputation as a reliable source of information on food, nutrition and health.
  • You will receive two editions of the Pabulum newsletter together with a copy of each new publication and be kept informed of Nutrition Australia publications and programs.
  • You will be eligible to receive a 10% discount on all Nutrition Australia publications.
  • Nutrition Australia will help you keep up-to-date with developments in research in the areas of food, nutrition and health. Nutrition Australia programs interpret the science in terms of everyday eating.

  • submissions to government committees on subjects such as national and state food and nutrition policies, dietary guidelines, food standards and future strategies

How does Nutrition Australia operate?

Nutrition Australia operates through a National Council and offices in all states and territories. The National Council is responsible for policy and national programs and the state offices are encouraged to respond to local needs and opportunities for nutrition education and health promotion.

Achieving Goals

Goals are achieved by basing activities on scientific principles and knowledge related to human nutrition and dietetics, health promotion, food science and technology.

Membership

There are two forms of membership:

General Membership

This is open to any individual, whether as a private member or as a representative of an organisation, who agrees to promote the objects of the Foundation and be bound by the Rules of Association.

Membership Form

Corporate Membership

This is open to any corporation that agrees to promote the objects of Nutrition Australia and be bound by the Rules of Association. There are several levels of Corporate Membership.

Corporate Members will also benefit from:

  • Access to consultations with experts in the field
  • Being linked with Australia's peak nutrition education body and the contribution it is making to community health and welfare
  • Opportunities to sponsor Nutrition Australia programs, publications, conferences and forums
  • Assistance with workplace programs such as staff health and welfare.
