Building Healthy Bones Through Healthy Life

'Building Healthy Bones Through Life' on World Osteoporosis Day aims to:

  • Develop clear recommendations for promotion of bone health in children and young people, adults and the elderly (including those with osteoporosis).
  • Review current issues around calcium, vitamin D and exercise in relation to bone health.

Guest Speakers:

  • Dr. Anna Dorai Raj, Consultant Rheumatologist, will speak from a rheumatologist’s perspective on bone development’s critical milestones, bone monitoring & management throughout life & what to do when diagnosed with Osteopenia or Osteoporosis.

  • An accredited, practising Dietitian from Nutrition Australia will be presenting on the nutritional aspects associated with developing & maintaining healthy bones throughout thelifecycle.

  • Dr Jennie Scarvell, Associate Professor, Physiotherapist Lecturer, University of Canberra, will present exercise guidelines associated with building & maintaining healthy bones throughout life’s milestones.

  • Alison Clark, Community Pharmacist, Ainslie, will talk on best deployment of Osteoporosis medication; vitamin & mineral supplementation for specific needs groups & medication reviews via Medicare.
