This publication fills a gap in resources for families, young people, single men and people managing their food dollars on the basic wage. The one week meal plan and shopping list has been designed to support a family of 4. The program identifies how to plan, shop and enjoy meals on approximately 1/3 of the basic wage.
Shop front staff and volunteers of non- government organizations and teachers will find the sections on food and nutrition information, healthy eating, budgeting and food safety relevant to their programs.
Dietitians, nutritionists, and any one working in social security will find great resources ready to use for the target group.
The recipe book “Great meals for you to enjoy” focuses on ideas for making meals without too much fuss. Recipes for meals and snacks used in the weekly meal planner and a number of food tips to stretch the dollar are included.
