Nutrition in Schools Advisory Service

Choose foods low in salt’

Students need to be aware that there is an association between a diet high in salt and high blood pressure.

High blood pressure in later life increases the risk of stroke.

Nutrition education should raise awareness of the high salt content of fast food and processed food.

Consumption of too many of these foods, too often will lead to acquiring a preference for salt foods.
