Nutrition Australia is proud to host National Nutrition Week, with
the theme “Eating Well, Active Longer”. We have numerous
nutrition awareness events planned nationwide with the goal
to improve the health of all Australians by providing ideas on
how to incorporate activity and better nutrition into daily life.

Nutrition Australia is the peak community nutrition education body in Australia. Nutrition Australia provides food and nutrition information services for the community. Nutrition Australia has designed a Nutrition Week kit to be used by various community groups as a guide for implementing National Nutrition Week activities in their local settings. Use of the Nutrition Week Kit will assist community groups to develop an understanding of how to promote optimal (the best possible) health through Food Variety and Physical Activity.

Australians, as part of an ageing population, have the challenge of aiming to age successfully to help ensure they can maintain good quality of life. The lifestyle diseases which afflict so many Australians have their origins in what we eat and what we do early on in life. Nutritious food is essential for good health. Studies show the food choices we make and the food preferences we develop when we are younger tend to stay with us for life. With such an abundance and variety of nutritious food available in Australia, we need to take up this advantage and protect our health for the future.
Eating a wide variety of nutritious food along with good levels of physical activity will help us to be “. .Active Longer”.
