Confused by nutrition? Join the club!

If you’re confused by all the nutrition information around, don’t worry, you’re not alone! Lucky for us, help is at hand.

Australia’s peak nutrition body Nutrition Australia, formerly the Australian Nutrition Foundation (ANF), has a range of services to take the confusion out of food, nutrition and dieting, including a brand new website at www.NutritionAustralia.org

Nutrition Australia produce a regular newsletter and a range of inexpensive booklets and cookbooks, that show how easy it is to adopt a healthy lifestyle. It’s now even easier with the new website.

"Finding credible nutrition information on the internet can be very difficult, especially if you want information that is scientifically based and most importantly, unbiased." said Louise D’Allura, Nutrition Australia’s Health Promotion Officer.

"All too often when we search the internet looking for nutrition information, we don’t know if some sites have a hidden agenda."

"Because nutrition information is not always from a credible source, your best bet is to visit sites such as www.NutritionAustralia.org which is developed by an Australian independent and unbiased organisation."

"As well as providing up-to-date and unbiased food and nutrition information for the general public, health professionals and their clients, Nutrition Australia’s site is very comprehensive. The site is  updated every week and provide lots of useful food and nutrition information, including recipes, an events calendar, Frequently Asked Questions, media releases, position papers, and publications"  said  Ms D'Allura.

Through its website, Nutrition Australia offers Australians information on issues such as physical activity, weight loss, fat, fibre, child health, adolescent health, and school tuckshops.

"Nutrition Australia believes that the best way to encourage a healthy lifestyle is to promote enjoyment from eating a wide variety of foods based on the Healthy Eating Pyramid and getting out and being physically active. This really is a key message that comes through on the web site."
