The New South Wales Office is the founding division of
Nutrition Australia and undertakes activities and programs to achieve Nutrition
Australia's mission. These include:
- Co-ordination of events in New South Wales for the annual National Nutrition Week
- Conducting high-profile seminars for the general public and health professionals
- Providing a nutrition information service (through booklets, leaflets, books and NSW information on the Nutrition Australia website)
- Publication sales
- Media commentary
- Industry consultancies
- Nutrition training, presentations and displays
Activities of Nutrition Australia Divisions are
overseen by a Committee of Management. The Committee consists of
professionals from various health, nutrition, education and business
fields.

Volunteers
Nutrition Australia - NSW Division is seeking interested
individuals to assist with Nutrition Australia activities and programs. All
backgrounds (marketing, administration, exercise, nutrition, business, health
promotion etc) are welcomed. Please contact the office to discuss ways in
which you could assist and the benefits of becoming a 'Volunteer of Nutrition
Australia'.
Nutrition Information Service
Nutrition Australia NSW Division operates a telephone and email enquiry service for the general public. This service is staffed by nutrition professionals who answer queries ranging from specific diet issues to general food product information.
Healthy Eating Schools
Nutrition Australia provides a comprehensive range of resources.
If you are a primary school located in NSW, Nutrition Australia welcomes the opportunity to work with you.
Nutrition Australia NSW can also offer schools:
- Teachers & School Children – Professional development session with teachers in your school linking food and nutrition with PDHPE and other curriculum areas or development of a fruit snack time program, or breakfast program.
- Parents and Community – Parent education sessions coordinated by Nutrition Australia on topics such as “how to pack a healthy lunch box”.

Work Place Health and Well Being Program
The NSW Division have implemented a sustainable program to assist employees achieve optimal health in the workplace & increase productivity.
Tailored packages consist of numerous interactive lecture or workshop style presentations on a variety of topics which are all supported by our enormous range of resources. Packages may also include health displays, cooking demonstrations, shopping tours and much more. These programs are conducted by qualified Nutritionists / Dietitians with expertise in a wide range of specialisations.

Consultancies
Nutrition Australia NSW Division undertakes a variety of consultancies including nutrition lectures, menu assessments and cooking demonstrations, advice on food service in schools, boarding schools, child care centres, aged care facilities and workplaces.
Breakfast program Support
Nutrition Australia NSW division is responsible for ongoing support and nutrition education of Good Start Breakfast Clubs.
Aged Care Advisory Service
The Aged Care Advisory Service for aged care facilities offers nutrition and food service advice via a quarterly newsletter and a telephone enquiry service. Nutrition Australia regularly conducts menu assessments for aged care facilities and offers in-service training for staff on food and hygiene issues. In 2005 NA staff conducted workshops and lectures in Sydney and Wollongong for Aged Care workers.
Child Care Nutrition Information Service
The Child Care Nutrition Information Service provides childcare workers with current information on nutrition and food issues via a quarterly newsletter and telephone enquiry service. Nutrition Australia staff undertake menu assessments and food safety audits to assist centres with accreditation. In addition, Nutrition Australia conducts nutrition and food handling courses for child care workers across all child care activities (eg long day care, family day care, Outside School Hours Care, Vacation Care). Nutrition Australia NSW also conducts nutrition information sessions for parents, focussing on nutrition for children, along with easy meal and snack ideas.
